Carole Whitling
Carole started making lace in 1984 at a local college. When this closed she used books and any courses that she could find. In 1987 she started City and Guilds Lacemaking Part 1 completing it in 1987. Part 2 followed with a pass in 1995. The City and Guilds helped Carole to design her own patterns, experimenting with different threads and colours whilst keeping her stitches simple. It also gave her a love of Needlelace.
For many years she has attended a course in Prague and she has regularly included Czech techniques in her work. She finds working to a theme and timetable gives her a goal to aim for. Carole has been very fortunate in having her lace exhibited in this country and abroad. She hopes that by doing this, it brings the modern type of lace she makes to the public eye.
