Tamara Goulding

As a contemporary Lace Artist Tamara uses both bobbin and needle lace, engaging the same techniques as employed in previous centuries. With a background in Batik, she was fascinated with colour and fought against the tradition of using white, ecru and black.

Tamara became a founder member of the 98 Lace Group (now 98 Lace) as she enjoys the challenge of designing and interpreting her lace into a modern art form, combining it with other media. Tamara’s strengths being shape and colour, she uses a variety of threads in different thicknesses and shades to create exciting textures. Her work is always progressing and at present she is experimenting using wire and hand-made silk paper, which she finds complements her type of designs.

Lacemaking has led her to studying the social history of lacemakers and gaining a degree: B.A. in Visual Studies in 2010.

Tamara’s pieces have been accepted for exhibitions both in Britain and abroad.
