Norma Johnson

While working in Wisbech in the late 1970s Norma was taken to a flower festival where a lady was demonstrating lacemaking and she wanted to try it.

Fast forward to December 1986, she was walking past her local art shop which had a Dryad kit in the window, so she asked for it for Christmas. Norma started teaching herself, then enrolled at the Darlington Arts Centre. After Easter, through her teacher, she joined Cleveland Lace Guild, where she met Ann Allison. Through going to the Lace Guild AGM she has met lots of people in the lace world.

Ann Allison and Tamara Goulding invited her to join ‘98 Lace’ where she is enjoying expanding her knowledge of contemporary lacemaking.
