Vanessa Krushner

Vanessa has been making lace since the 1990s.

She went along to a class with a friend who wanted to use her grandmother’s bobbins and immediately fell in love with the art of lace making. It gave her the scope to carry her design background into a creative arena.

She likes to design free-standing modern designs which sometimes need wires or Perspex rods to achieve her vision. She loves the way threads and wires take on a life of their own and the movement that can be achieved in a piece due to the manipulation of lace stitches.

‘Memorial’ (below) was designed for Bowes Museum and it lamented the passing of lace used in fashion in history.

‘Arches’, was in an exhibition at Mount Grace Priory, and was designed after seeing pictures of the ruins.

Lampshade was created for 78 Derngate in Northampton

Vanessa has also exhibited in various National Trust Properties.
